New York Entertainment Lawyer John J. Tormey III - John J. Tormey III, PLLC
My name is John J. Tormey III. I am a New York lawyer, also admitted to practice in California and the District of Columbia. I have a general commercial law practice, with a focus on entertainment, art, media, intellectual property (copyright and trademark), limited liability company law, and music A&R (Artist & Repertoire) matters. Active matters for my New York law practice include film; music; television; publishing; new business start-ups (these days oft-characterized by the creation and filing of a limited liability company and the drafting of an LLC operating agreement); life-story rights and other rights matters; other contract drafting and negotiation; Internet and computer affairs; and other transactional, employment, and corporate work. As a music lawyer, film lawyer, television lawyer, and entertainment attorney generally, I also provide legal services to assist artists and others in their endeavors to submit and place their material with professional entertainment, publishing, and media industry recipients - including film, music, and television projects. I formerly served as Counsel to The Walt Disney Company, and Senior Counsel and Senior Litigation Counsel to Miramax Films. My experience includes music law, motion pictures, production counsel, life-story rights, television, intellectual property (copyright and trademark), art, radio, animation, merchandising, licensing, publishing, advertising, marketing and publicity, casting, photography, modeling, interactive media, and wills and estates.

An Entertainment Attorney With A General Practice
Those working in music, film, television, and other reaches of the arts, entertainment, and media fields, will from time-to-time find themselves in search of an entertainment attorney for transactional or advisory matters. So, too, may those seeking a film lawyer to endeavor to place a screenplay or teleplay with Acquisitions and Development recipients, or those seeking a music lawyer to endeavor to place a demo with A&R executives. So, too, may those in search of contractual, corporate, limited liability company (LLC), intellectual property (copyright and trademark), or other general law practice matters. Naturally, all want to make the best possible choice of music lawyer, film lawyer, entertainment lawyer, motion picture production counsel, or other counsel as appropriate and as needed. As those seeking legal services continue to gravitate towards the Internet as a lawyer-search fact-finding tool to be used in their search for an entertainment lawyer or other form of counsel, I will continue to post this website in anticipated and proactive response to those attorney-search efforts.
